The minutes of the previous meeting were approved

Finance Update

  • SumUp is working well and is saving time when processing parking payments.

  • The Virgin Money current account will be moved to a Virgin Money Charity Account to avoid bank charges.

  • The Shed has a healthy in-year balance.

Applying for grants

Grants remain available, but the restrictions attached to the current opportunities would make it difficult for the Shed to qualify at this stage.
It was agreed that no grant applications will be pursued for the time being.

Strategy for use of reserves:

It was agreed to allocate £6,000 from reserves towards priority improvements: including dust extraction, noise-cancelling ear protection and replacement tools.

  • Further options will also be explored to make the building warmer and more energy efficient.

Membership

  • The Shed will continue to promote its activities locally and will contact the local social prescriber to explore offering a supported placement, with terms to be agreed.

Training and day-to-day management issues

Lance was thanked for his excellent support and training.

  • It was agreed to consider alternating sessions between Mondays and Fridays to encourage wider participation.

Summer social event

It was agreed to hold an afternoon tea on Friday, 21 August at 3:00pm.

  • Sandwiches will be purchased from Dalewood, members will be asked to bring cakes or sweets, and paper plates and cake forks will be provided.
