Responsibilities

Trustees:

  • Adherence to all the regulations of the Charity Commission and being a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)

  • Liaison with the Village Hall trustees and management committee

  • Liaison with other local and national bodies for both advice and funding


Management Committee (under delegation):

  • A safe working environment

  • Safe systems of work

  • Plant and materials in safe condition

  • Facilities for the welfare of members

  • Information, instruction, training and supervision that is reasonably necessary to ensure that each member is safe from injury and risks to health

  • A commitment to consult and cooperate with members in all matters relating to health and safety in the Men's Shed

  • A commitment to continually improve our performance through effective safety management

  • Day-to-day responsibility for the financial management, secretarial support and keyholder leadership of each session.

Keyholders

  • The Code of Conduct of members is upheld throughout the session

  • That as far as possible, Health and Safety rules are adhered to, including self-certification of competence to use equipment

  • The work environment is clean and safe and fit for use as outlined in the Operating Rules

  • The Shed is opened and closed at the agreed time

  • That no work is undertaken, or machinery used until at least two members are present

  • That any issues are addressed, not personalities and any unresolved disputes are reported to a member of the Management Committee

Members

  • comply with safe work practices, with the intent of avoiding injury to themselves and others and damage to plant and equipment

  • take reasonable care of their own health and safety and the health and safety of others

  • wear personal protective equipment and clothing where necessary

  • comply with any direction given by the committee of management in relation to health and safety

  • not misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interest of health and safety

  • report all accidents and incidents immediately, no matter how trivial

  • report all known or observed hazards to the Committee of management

We seek the cooperation of all members and visitors. We encourage suggestions in realising our health and safety objectives to create a safe environment with a zero accident rate.
